Well last Saturday I went to a great new venue for music I have never been to before. I was invited by the artist to come to a House or Couch Concert. The concert was by Gregory Page one of the local talents here in San Diego. His style is Folk Rock in the same vien as James Taylor (whom he idolizes). The Place was a beautiful home in Rancho Sante Fe. We were invited by a friend of Gregory's by the name of Chris Richards who use to work on the show "Baywatch". It was his parents house and the darling Dorthy (his mother) was hostess. We all brought a snack like a potluck dinner and it turned out to be quite a spread. There were a couple of Guest who showed up! One to open the show and one to to play with Gregory on a few of his songs. So Michael Tiernan was who opened for him, he sang several songs. They were "Slow Down", "Out Walking", "Love and Commitment", and "Spaces". After his set, he sat in the front to watch the master as he put it.

Ray Sphen (pronounced SWEN) was playing violin and the mandolin on "Ballad For Benedict" and just the violin for a few others. Saying Just is not an apt term because this guy can really play it well.

Here's the selection of songs Gregory played from the many, many cd's he has made over the years...

Everyone is Happy
Old Photographs
Hollywood's Heroes
Bon Voyage Mon Cheri
Ghost With Sad Eyes
Ballad For Benedict
Cockatils and Coldhearts
Anti-War Demonstration Song
November Night
-poems by Raymond Carver
-poem by Rolph Jacobson
Angels Sing Their Songs To Me
Sleeping Dogs
The One & Lonely
Always
Flying Under Water-by James Taylor
Buffalo Hunters
Banks Of The Ponchetrain-by Hank Williams
Love Made Me Drunk
1930's song "Guilty of Loving You"
The Parting Glass (acapella)

I highlighted a few songs that are my favorite of his, he played a lot but it is not all he has and not all my favorites but a bunch of them. He has a new Cd coming out soon with new material I have heard one of theose songs at Lestat's last month called: "Big Surprise" that is my all time favorite song he does. All of his songs except the two noted are written by him and he is concidered in San Diego if not everywhere to be one of the best song writers around by his peers. If you want to check out some of his music you can go to his website or his MySapce site and check him there. Gregory Page at MySpace he also has his own website at Gregory Page.com You can find Michael Tiernan there on MySpace as well. He will be playing at the 143 S. Cedros, Solana Beach. It’s cheap: $5. It’s early: 8:00 – about 11:00 on Wednesday night March 15th, along with a few guests. His band is called the Michael Tiernan Trio. His thing is called NAG www.newacousticgeneration.com he is promoting music from local talent who play acoustical and do there own song writing. I'll learn more about it tonight. Enjoy!

Ciao
