Well I went out on Tuesday night and saw a great lineup again. This time it was at a bar in San Marcos called The Jumping Turtle. Every Tuesday night an organization named Listen Local SD promotes local talent here in San Diego. The organizer is Cathryn Beeks one of those beautiful and talented local singers. The Listen Local SD was created in 2004 by Cathryn to showcase the local talented singer songwriters that are here in our midst in San Diego. They organize shows like the one we saw at the Jumping Turtle and others like The Acoustic Alliance and the Band Camp Festival (these for a small cover). But on Tuesdays it is a free cover and even if you are underage you can come see them until 10pm. The local talent we saw this last Tuesday was 8:00 Kurt Vatland 8:30 Paige Aufhammer 9:00 The Wild Truth 10:15 Dave Howard 11:15 Hector on Stilts. All of these bands were terrific and a couple we hadn't heard before like Paige, who blew us away, such a small pretty girl with a big voice. She really bowled me over. Kurt Vatland was new to me also and was quite good. The Wild Truth was awesome and had a real hard rock sound, which is my favorite type of music. But it didn't stop there! I've had an opportunity to see Dave Howard a couple of times but I was always unable to see him. I had to leave just as his set was starting because my friend had to work the next day, but what I did hear I liked a lot. He does the blues and he does them well. Unfortunately I was unable to see Hector on Stilts, but since the evening was non-stop talent I have no doubt that they kicked ass as well. I really recommend going to the ListenLocalSD showcase at The Jumping Turtle. But don't take my word on it! Go out and Support Your Local Bands San Diego! I'm out!

Ciao
